We're just a "Bag of Fritos"

Former Major Leaguer Jeff Frye & the #Shegone Nation

As Jeff Frye puts it, the #shegone nation is growing!  "People all over the country are on board with our mission to get back to old school baseball!"  What started out as a playful video that made fun of the numerous "certified hitting gurus", has taken on a life of it's own in only one year.
The hats are a big hit!  The big smile on my son Jacob's face tells it all.  Having the hat autographed by Jeff, makes it even sweeter.  I don't care what the "certified hitting gurus" say about Jeff, he's not a "meanie".  Anybody who complains about Jeff's criticism of youth instructors, don't know him like we do.  He cares about the kids and their future in baseball.  That's why he is on a mission.  That's why Fowlkes Baseball supports him.
A few years ago, a candidate for president called the opponent's supporters a "basket of deplorables".  I can proudly say, as a supporter of Jeff Frye's movement, that you can call us anything you want to.  We're just a "bag of Fritos!"  All of Jeff's supporters are great baseball people that probably come from a baseball family just like me.  I'm teaching my son to respect and appreciate the game of baseball.  That's how my dad taught me.  It's just a game.  It's meant to be fun, not a job.  There shouldn't be pressure on a child to play baseball, have to make important future decisions at an early age, and for God's sake, you shouldn't have to spend so much money!
I could go on forever about the culture of youth baseball, and the changes that need to be made.  But the bottom line is, former major leaguer Jeff Frye is making a difference.  I like to refer to the term old school as timeless, which means "not affected by the passage of time."

What is a Hitting Guru? Why is the Guru named Judy? How did a former major leaguer become buddies with my 11 year old son?

So let me tell you his story. Stan is a huge advocate and supporter of Fowlkes Baseball! The Fowlkes family really owes him a boatload of gratitude.

I'll admit it. I committed a sin! I did something that no other youth baseball coach has ever done. Are you ready for this? I didn't stall.

The son of Tony and Julie became a star the other day. I met mom, dad, and Braylon a few years ago, when they played on the same team that I was helping to coach.

Mom would have been 90 this year, dad 95. But the spring of 2020, whew… what a year to be alive.

I almost decided not to go to the doctor on Monday morning, September 12, 2005. What if I didn't? I wouldn't be here today!

A few days before my first ever Fowlkes Baseball/End of Summer/Back to School/Sandlot Baseball Game, I was told about an incident that occurred recently at the 2019 Dizzy Dean World Series in Southaven, Mississippi.

For parents that have had their sons and daughters in the batting cages all winter, making sure that their off-spring keeps up with the Joneses, here's something different.
