Buddy Bio

Buddy, like all my brothers, is also a graduate of Decatur High School, Class of 1965. He started coaching youth baseball in 1962, coaching his younger brothers and later his two sons. Buddy founded an indoor baseball training facility, which had an unreal run from March 1993 to November 2013 in the same location in Gwinnett County. Buddy was one of the 4 original founders of the Southeastern Championship Series in 2004. The league consisted of teams of high school players from Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi. Games were played exclusively on college campuses and at minor league stadiums, culminating in a SECS World Series. By 2008, the league had grown to 12 teams in 5 states, including Florida. Because of the interest from pro scouts and college recruiters, the league was receiving inquiries from teams in Kentucky and Ohio. Due to the economic downturn, league play was suspended. Fowlkes Baseball is now in talks with the SECS to reinstate league play in the near future. The thousands of young baseball and softball players he trained over the years included future major leaguers Brandon Phillips, Michael Barrett and Brian McCann.
